Dear Red,

          Just finished III a little while ago, and mighty fascinating it is.  All my marginal notes are minor matters.

          As for scheduling:  I’m alarmed at the remaining number of things you have to check or find and fill in, since I am sure you can do none of it from up there.  I hope it won’t take too long when you get back.

          I do a lot of thinking about format:  we’ve got to invent a scheme in which it will always be immediately clear who is saying what, and which will have its own consistency.  Keep the problem in mind.

          Hope to soon receive some good news of Gabriel.  Hope all is well with all of you.  We’re fine.

P.S. Baldwin section returned as undeliverable.  He’s in Europe, and so far we have not been able to find anyone to tell us just where.  Hope you’re keeping up with the daily news, which has been pretty shocking.
