___________
Gentleman,
In your advertisement in the Sunday New York
TIMES for Robert Penn Warren’s WHO SPEAKS FOR THE NEGRO?, you
identify Lolis Elie, “New Orleans lawyer for the NAACP.” This is incorrect,
for as Mr. Warren notes on page nine of his book, Mr. Elie is (and has
been for some years) CORE’s lawyer there, and indeed the mainstay of
CORE’s entire legal program in the south (along with his partners Collins
and Douglas).
I would hope that in future advertisements for
this excellent book that Mr. Elie would be correctly identified.
Yours truly,
(signature)
