          Please excuse my delay in responding to your kind letter.  During the past two weeks I have been in and out of New York – in fact, I have been out of the city more than I have been in.

          Although I cannot see myself as a “Negro leader”, I would be happy to have the opportunity to talk with you in connection with your challenging assignment.  Would any of the following dates be possible for you:  Tuesday, April 7^th, Thursday, April 16^th, or the afternoon of Tuesday, April 21^st?
