Dear Robert Penn Warren,
I am terribly sorry it has taken so long for me to
contact you; but there has been a profound mix-up in my
office.
Before I left for Oslo with Dr. King I turned the
manuscript over to one of my assistants to look over and
correct. He skimmed over the material and then misplaced
the document. I returned from Oslo and immediately left
for a vacation. It is only now as I have settled back
into my normal routine that I have noted that the
manuscript has not been returned.
I would appreciate it, if you could send me another
copy. I promise to read, correct it and return it
immediately.
I am sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused
you.
Sincerely,
[Signed]
Bayard Rustin
