Dear Mr. Warren:
We wish to thank you very much for your generous
offer to appear at the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee party in Boston.
At present, we hope to hold the party on
Friday evening, February 25 or March 4. Either
of these dates is all right with John Updike and
the choice is therefore yours. Would you please
call us collect in Cambridge (868-0939) to let us
know which you prefer so that we can complete our
plans?
If you agree, we would like to make the party
a reading followed by a reception. Mr. Updike
has agreed to read some of his own work; the total
reading party would probably be around an hour,
divided between you.
Thank you again for helping us out at this
moment of desperate financial need. We really
appreciate it.
Very truly yours,
Mrs. Janice Campbell
