Dear Red:
The tapes themselves and your manuscript
are here and I have begun work. I should be able
to get the corrected script off to you, plus the
biographical notes, within the coming week.
I am so very pleased with your generous
comment about me and Shadow and Act. Whether for
public print or not, I personally value your words.
You should know too that the Rockefeller
Foundation has given me a nice bite of a grant, which
came in time to prevent my signing a contract with the
State University of N.Y., Thank God. My thanks to
you and to Danny Hoffman for this unexpected piece of
good luck.
Fanny and I hope that you, Eleanor and the
kids are having a happy time and that there will be
no additional bouts of infection, accidents or what-
have-you to interfere with work and pleasure.
You will hear from me again soon.
Sincerely,
[Signed]
Ralph E.
