Dear Mr. Warren:
Enclosed you will find an autographed copy of my recent book
entitled, Why We Can’t Wait. Although the publication date is
not until June 8, I wanted you to have a pre-publication date
copy. I regret so much that during your recent visit with me
the pressure of time and events made it impossible for me
to engage in the kind of indepth discussion with you that I
had planned. I hope, therefore, that some of the questions
that we did not have an opportunity to discuss will be answered
in this little book. In Why We Can’t Wait, I have sought to
shed some light on the difficult problem of racial injustice
which pervades our nation. I hope that in some little way
my humble efforts in this endeavor will prove helpful.
Sincerely yours,
[Signed]
Martin Luther King, Jr.
